The Friends of the Cobb County Public Library System are hosting a free, ‘Meet the Illustrator’ program presenting artist Gregory Christie, Oct. 8, 3:30 p.m. at the South Cobb Regional Library (805 Clay Road, Mableton, 30126).

Primarily known for his children’s book illustrations, the New York resident has been recognized for his work and received numerous awards including:

• Coretta Scott King Award honor for ‘Brothers in Hope; The Story of the Lost boys of Sudan’ and for his illustrations in ‘Only Passing Through: The Story of Sojourner Truth’
• Recipient of the New York Times Certificate of Excellence for work on ‘Only Passing Through: The Story of Sojourner Truth’ and a second time for his illustrations in, ‘Stars in The Darkness’
• Schneider Family Award for his work in ‘The Deaf Musicians’

Christie’s art has also been featured on jazz labels worldwide and on publications in Europe, Asia, and America.

For a look into the world of the renowned artist and his fascinating career, join the Friends of the Library for this special event. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
