			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Friends of the Cobb County Public Library System are hosting a free, ‘Meet the Illustrator’ program presenting artist Gregory Christie, Oct. 8, 3:30 p.m. at the South Cobb Regional Library (805 Clay Road, Mableton, 30126).</p>
<p>Primarily known for his children’s book illustrations, the New York resident has been recognized for his work and received numerous awards including:</p>
<ul>
<li>Coretta Scott King Award honor for ‘Brothers in Hope; The Story of the Lost boys of Sudan’ and for his illustrations in ‘Only Passing Through: The Story of Sojourner Truth’</li>
<li>Recipient of the New York Times Certificate of Excellence for work on ‘Only Passing Through: The Story of Sojourner Truth’ and a second time for his illustrations in, ‘Stars in The Darkness’</li>
<li> Schneider Family Award for his work in ‘The Deaf Musicians’</li>
</ul>
<p>Christie’s art has also been featured on jazz labels worldwide and on publications in Europe, Asia, and America.</p>
<p>For a look into the world of the renowned artist and his fascinating career, join the Friends of the Library for this special event. Books will be available for purchase and signing.</p>
